The Brigades Culinaires [Culinary Brigades] after-school program teaches high-school students throughout Quebec basic cooking techniques and the principles of healthy eating. Participating schools in disadvantaged areas benefit from a series of workshops given by chefs that culminate in a final cook-off between schools. The program is run by the organization la Tablée des chefs. During this tour, we will attend a workshop taking place at Père-Marquette High School. Local food in institutions of the Montreal School Board accounts for 60% of the board’s food purchases for its cafeterias.

Location: Montreal
Cost: Free. Does not include cost of public transport.

Tablée des chefs

The Tablée des Chefs’ mission is to feed families in need and educate future generations by developing their food autonomy. This nonprofit organization also encourages chefs, cooks and pastry chefs to become active for social change.
