Local and sustainable food

In 2013, Équiterre launched Épluche ta ville, a website showcasing local food in Montreal. It’s an opportunity to discover an array of initiatives aimed at putting local food on the menu.

Many restaurants, shops and markets are committed to the local food movement.

  • The Guide restos Voir, a recognized reference in gastronomy, classifies its favourite restaurants by neighborhood, budget and types of cuisine.
  • The Concordia Food Systems Project will spark your curiosity and open the door to sustainable Montreal. The interactive map lists several excellent restaurants, gardens, kitchens and community markets that are proud to offer local, organic and fair trade products.
  • The répertoire des restaurants montréalais écoresponsables [directory of eco-friendly Montreal restaurants] by Tourism Montreal allows gourmets to locate restaurants that have adopted sustainable practices.
  • The corporation Public Markets of Montreal lists on its website, 15 city and neighbourhood markets that offer some of the best terroir products of Québec.
